Glastonbury Street Market
For years, the weekly market in Glastonbury was a steady part of the town’s routine, bringing together local traders selling produce, crafts, clothing, and everyday goods. In its later form, much of this activity had moved into the Assembly Rooms, where a regular Tuesday market continued to serve both residents and visitors.
That market has now come to an end. Posts from the Assembly Rooms’ own market page confirm that the final Tuesday market took place on 31 March, marking the closure of the weekly event.
While occasional craft fairs and seasonal markets still take place, the loss of the weekly market removes a regular social and trading space from the town. Its closure reflects a gradual shift away from traditional market models, even in places like Glastonbury where independent trading has long been part of the town’s identity.
