The Speaking Tree

The Speaking Tree Bookshop was one of Glastonbury's most beloved independent bookshops.  The story began when Gareth Mills started selling second-hand books from a small stall in the Glastonbury Experience Courtyard. What began as a modest venture steadily grew before moving to 5 High Street under the titled The Speaking Tree,

The bookshop developed a reputation for its extensive range of spiritual, esoteric, philosophical and alternative titles, all at prices to please its customers. Over time it became a familiar destination for pilgrims, seekers and book lovers visiting Glastonbury. The atmosphere within the shop, with its shelves and tabletops brimming with books on mythology, folklore, spirituality, religion, philosophy, healing, nature and history was was reknowned,  with  visitors regularly describing it as a place of unexpected discoveries, where rare and unusual titles sat alongside modern classics and contemporary works.

In recent years the business changed hands and was renamed The Hollow Hills.
