Glastonbury Holy Thorn Track
According to tradition, Joseph of Arimathea arrived in Glastonbury after the Crucifixion and planted his staff on the Wearyall Hill, which miraculously took root as a thorn tree that flowered twice a year - around Easter and Christmas. This unusual winter blossoming, reinforced the sense that the tree was not ordinary but divinely marked. The thorn became a focal point for reflection and seasonal ritual.
While the original tree on the hill has been destroyed, its symbolic role has persisted, with descendants and grafts continuing the tradition nearby in the town.
